All of us in life have a goal... have an aim... all of us run towards that goal... some run faster some little slower...
There are very few of us who for a long time in their respective lives did not have no real goal... but for them society sets the goal and in the end they also fall in the trap of this goal chasing.....
A trap!!! 'how can chasing your dream or goal be a trap... that is what we live for.. don't we?'
Very true, we definitely do so.. but there itself lies a trap... but why do I say so? There are many reason for that . Which I have realized during the course of my short but fast life....
One of the first reasons for the above mentioned argument is that many of us do not actually set our own goals... its determined by some of our near and dear ones. And the choice of our near and dear ones are generally determined by two factors a) their own unfulfilled dreams b) societal status of the proposed goal... e.g. in the 90s majority of the parents wanted their sons and daughters to become either Software engineer or Telecom engineer. Mind you there was nothing wrong in wanting your kids to become software or telecom engineer as the both the job were and still are very well respected in the society and also very good in terms of remuneration one got from being in such a profession. By the turn of the millennium the priorities of the parents changed and the two above mentioned career paths took a back seat and Management studies started ruling the roost.
The other lot who did set their own goals also mostly opted for the above mentioned profession knowingly or unknowingly because of the social status of the jobs.
And thus started the chase... chasing your goals..... without knowing that this would be an unending quest.. quest for superiority....
Now while we chased ours goals we kept on making sacrifices in order to secure a better tomorrow.... when we were finishing off school, we kept on telling ourselves that if we work hard for the last two years in school we'll have a peaceful future.. then in college we did the same and kept on doing it in B-schools......
And then when we got a job we again told ourselves that if I work the hardest in next 3-5 years i'll be in a safe haven....
And like that the chase continues and in the process we keep neglecting our present .. without knowing that even if I want it wont come back.. things such as going to college everyday... bunking classes and going for a movie... midnight birthday parties... sitting with friends without any purpose.... just talking nonsense for hours on phone....
We all did this but without realizing that these are the best times of our life and not what waits at the end of it.....
Throughout this essay I kept on giving an impression that we shouldn't chase our dreams... but no thats not the point.. we must chase our dreams thats what gives us a purpose to live.... but the point is its not the end of the journey that is most important... the journey itself is the most important part.. coz we don't really know whether we'll end up being a success but at least we all travel the same road .. lets enjoy the road...
